10:03

What happens at 10:03? You celebrate life!
Photo from C. Nordhaus! Cheers!
10:03 started one summer night many years ago after a hard day. My friend and I took a walk to discuss the day and life. How could life be such a struggle? At the same time, our struggles paled in comparison to others. We both had good health, loving families, enough to eat, a roof over our heads, a good education, freedom, no fear of war, safety, and we would live to see another day.  Even on our hardest days there was so much to be thankful for. 10:03 became a symbol of hope. After a terrible day you could still hold to the fact that you had made it through the day alive if nothing else. Tomorrow is a new day.

So 10:03 is a mini-thanksgiving of sorts. A daily party to celebrate life? Sure, why not! Take time to be thankful for everything you have! Take time to admire the colors of nature, the sound of the ocean, the shape of the clouds, the taste of a warm cookie, the ability to walk, the right to vote, the ability to go to the store to buy slipper socks, the faces of those you love, the sound your dog-weasel makes as he clicks across the wood floor!
